The Center for Basic Sciences (CBS) at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, is inviting applications for the position of Project Fellow under an advanced research project focused on the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. The two-year research project, titled “Modelling Infectious Disease Dynamics using Neural Ordinary Differential Equations“, represents a fusion of epidemiologyand machine learning.

This project is being conducted under the guidance of Dr. Govind Prasad Sahu, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at CBS, who has made notable contributions to mathematical modelling of epidemics, particularly in the Indian context of COVID-19. In 2025, his work received recognition for its innovative application of nonlinear dynamics, optimal control theory, and scientific machine learning.

The research integrates traditional frameworks like the SIR model with cutting-edge machine learning techniques such as Neural Ordinary Differential Equations (NODEs). This hybrid approach enables accurate simulation of the complex dynamics of epidemics, aligning closely with real-world scenarios, highlighting the importance of data-driven control strategies.

This project is funded under the Research Grant Seed Money Scheme of PRSU and offers an excellent opportunity for researchers in mathematics and computational sciences. Eligible candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in Mathematics or Computational Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks. The last date to apply is August 5, 2025.

Selected fellows will receive a consolidated monthly stipend of ₹10,000.
